About us
We are scores of members and former members of the SF Bicycle Coalition interested in seeing it continue to grow and be successful.
We believe the best way to do this is for the SF Bike Coalition to remain a democratic member-based organization (dive deep into our history here). If you’d like to get involved and have your name listed below, email us at [email protected] or sign up using the form below.

What we believe
Four values guide everything we do.
Member democracy
Members elect the board. That accountability is what made the coalition strong.
Transparency
Open minutes, disclosed vote totals and a way to reach the whole board.
Safer streets
Data-driven designs, protected lanes and a real network for all ages.
Equity & inclusion
Bike advocacy that reflects every San Francisco neighborhood.
Our history
How a group of concerned members saved the right to vote — and what came next.
- July 2015The SFBC Board of Directors proposes a bylaw amendment that would end members’ right to elect the board.
- Summer 2015The referendum passes with a short notice period and ballot wording that obscures its effect. Concerned members organize as Save SF Bike.
- 2015Facing the threat of legal action, the board rescinds the flawed vote and member voting rights are restored. Vote totals are disclosed in that year’s election.
- 2016Board minutes are posted online, members gain an address to contact the full board, and Save SF Bike endorses eight candidates for eight open seats.
- 2017Members take part in the SFBC strategic-planning open house; the board discusses a proposal for ranked-choice voting.
- 2026Save SF Bike relaunches with member programs, a resource library and a preserved archive of past newsletters.
